Artist Statement: the “rich” individual

This piece discusses the spiritual decay that accompanies unchecked pride, wealth, and self-deception. “Wealth” is anything that can take one away from God by putting that aspect as their idol. Drawing from biblical warnings, the Artist portrays the “rich” individual as someone bound by the consequences of their own arrogance. The Artist shows themself as a tormented individual not by the world, but by the truth they refuse to face. It becomes a reflection on how comfort can corrupt and how suffering becomes inevitable when one clings to false power.
